The former antenna measurement system at anechoic chamber in NUAA is mainly composed of analogue equipments, so the measurement error is considerable. To adapt to the fast development of pilotless aircraft, the Agilent85301B antenna measurement system is introduced in a development and ensure project. This paper focuses on the research of this advanced antenna measurement system. It's an intellectualized test system applied for antenna measurement and RCS (Radar Cross Sector) measurement. There are many excellent characteristics of this system, for example, fast measurement speed, high sensitivity, wide dynamic range and angle domain measurement. It becomes more important especially researching on the antenna of ultralow minor lobes. Based on the Agilent85301B system, antenna measurement can be made better, target's RCS measurement is developed, measured data are processed and measurement errors are analyzed. For simulating the complex electromagnetic environment, by applying a sequence circuit composed of RF(Radio Frequency) switches and some interrelated device, a multi - target simulated dynamic test environment can be implemented. With the software development, the measurement ability can be improved, antenna and RCS measurement precision can be heightened and more convenient and precise experiment methods can be brought forward. And also some research on the other function can be done.First, the whole measurement condition and the system constitution can be simply introduced. The system's hardware components, adding the software controlling of device interface (mainly about the GPIB control and serial communication), can make the whole system work normally. Secondly, antenna and RCS measurement are expounded in detailed, mainly including the theory and implement of antenna pattern and gain measurement; VB development based on the NSI2000 antenna measurement software, processing and analyzing the scanned data; the theory of RCS measurement, time domain, frequency domain and angel domain measurement, scanned data processing interface based on VC++, and measurement error analysis during scanning.Finally, this paper includes the vector network analyzer and material measurement function of this automatic measurement system. They will be a part of the embedded research on this system.
