With the continuous development of communication technology,the commercial use of the fifth-generation mobile communication technology(5G)is already in sight.As the most important functional component in mobile communications,the research and design of mobile phone antennas and base station antennas for 5G communications applications has become a hot topic in recent years.Based on the research status of 5G antennas domestic and international and the related requirements of Massive MIMO technology,the antennas for 5G mobile communications should conform the standards of high gain,miniaturization,wide band,and high isolation to meet the demands of 5G communication that concerned on the high communication speed,beam scanning,beam energy aggregation and other advances.According to the latest regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology,the mid-range of 5G mobile communications is demarcated at 3.3 GHz-3.5 GHz and 4.8 GHz-5.0 GHz.It should be considered that at the initial stage of 5G commercial using,currently widely used in mobile applications,such as 4G mobile communications,Wi-Fi/WiMAX,etc,will not immediately exit the market.Therefore,it is of great significance to study a broadband antenna and array that can be compatible with both the 5G band and the existing common communication band(Wi-Fi/WiMAX).Based on the above application requirements,this paper proposes and designs a miniaturized monopole antenna and its array compatible with 5G mid-band and Wi-Fi/WiMAX frequency bands that can operate at 2.4-3.5 GHz,and aims at 5G communication for antennas and arrays,and conduct in-depth research and discussion on the performance of the antenna designed in this paper.The main research work and innovation contributions of this paper are as follows:1.After describing the background,key technologies,and index requirements for 5G communication and based on the basic theory of monopole antennas and coplanar waveguide antennas,a planer monopole antenna compatible with 5G mid-band and WiFi/WiMax bands has been proposed.The paper analyzes the simulation and measurement results of the antenna,which shows 2.4GHz-3.5GHz bandwidth and more than 1 dBi gain.Based on this the effect of the capped backplane on the relevant performance of the antenna has been studied.2.Aiming at the disadvantages of the CPW-feed planar monopole antenna above,especially the dimension insufficient,a specific implementation method of miniaturization of the antenna is proposed.The miniaturization design process of the monopole antenna and the impact of its performance are studied in detail and in steps.Simulation and measurement results of a miniaturized planar monopole antenna that operates in the same frequency band using the same feed method(CPW)are given,measurement results shows that operation bandwidth keep within 2.35-3.55 GHz and gain reaches 1dBi.And the performance and the impact of the miniaturization antenna that loading metal backplane is also studied.3.A decoupling method for 5G mobile communication array antennas is introduced.And a 2 4 antenna array that based on the above-mentioned miniaturized antennas loaded with metal backplanes and oriented to 5G mobile communication applications has been assembled.Different array performance before and after the decoupling has been studied,and the simulation result of the array has been given.The measurement result shows its operation bandwidth reached 2.05-3.5 GHz,and total gain is more than 12 dBi.The antenna and array designed in this paper achieve bandwidth coverage of the 5G mid-band and Wi-Fi/WiMAX bands,achieving a single antenna gain greater than 4 dBi in gain,an array gain greater than 12 dBi,and an array antenna isolation greater than 15 dB.All the performances meet the requirements of the compatible of the 5G communication and existing common wireless communication.Meanwhile,the research and the design of the antenna in this paper considering both specific requirements of the Massive MIMO in high gain and isolation and the necessary transition between5 G communications and existing communications,therefore,it has a very important value and significance.
