Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO)technology is the key technology of the fourth generation mobile communication technology(4G)and the fifth generation mobile communication technology(5G),and it is also a hot spot for the research and development of communication systems in recent years.For a MIMO communication system,the performance of the device is closely related to the channel environment,and it is difficult to complete a variety of channel environment tests for the MIMO communication device.The MIMO channel simulator can provide testing of different channel environments and verify the function and performance of the device,thereby shortening the development cycle of the communication device.The paper mainly completed the research of MIMO channel theory,designed the waveform of MIMO channel,and implemented a MIMO channel simulator.The specific work is as follows:First,we analyzed of the status of MIMO channel simulators.Firstly,the foreign channel simulator is introduced,and the technical challenge is clarified.Then the basic characteristics of the wireless channel are introduced,including multiplicative interference and additive interference,and the principle of channel interference is clarified.Finally,the basic model of the wireless channel and the MIMO channel model are introduced,which provides a reference model for the design and simulation of the following waveforms.Second,we designed the waveform of the MIMO channel simulator.First,the functional requirements and performance requirements of the MIMO channel simulator are analyzed.We clarified the requirements and refined the indicators.Then,based on this,the waveform of the MIMO channel simulator is designed,including waveform design of the MIMO channel model,multipath waveform design,Rayleigh fading design,Gaussian noise design,and we made the corresponding simulation.Third,we implemented the waveform of the MIMO channel simulator.According to the waveform design and simulation,the waveform of the MIMO channel simulator was implemented on FPGA.Firstly we introduced the hardware architecture and software architecture,and then on this basis,designed the overall structure of the waveform.Then,the structure of each sub-module was designed,including correlation matrix module,sub-channel module,Gaussian noise module,and configuration parameter parsing module,where the sub-channel module focuses on the optimization of resources.Finally,a resource optimization analysis was performed on the overall waveform implementation.Fourth,we tested and verified the MIMO channel simulator waveform.Including attenuation test,delay test,frequency deviation and Doppler spread test,Gaussian signal to noise ratio test,channel overall test,we verified the correctness of waveform design and implementation.The paper studied the theory and model of MIMO channel,and implemented a configurable MIMO channel model on FPGA,which provided help for the testing of communication equipment and provided reference for the follow-up research and implementation of MIMO channel model.
