Due to the wireless sensor network is a task-based network,it is critical to evaluate the ability of the tasks which need to accomplish in the course of network running for various application.Reliability is an important indicator that is used to assess the capability of the wireless sensor network.The accurate analysis and computation of the survivability is the key link of WSN in the design and application.Thus,the analysis and calculation of the survivability is of great significance for the promotion and implementation of the WSN application.Based on the k-out-of-n system structure,this paper gives the corresponding survivability calculation method for the different needs of wireless sensor network applications.The details are as follows:The modular k-out-of-n system model is established on the basis of clustering of the wireless sensor network whose main task is coverage.The minimum number of the working nodes which the target monitoring area and every cluster need respectively is analyzed and calculated according to the application requirements.Further,in the case of node failures,the coverage task of wireless sensor network is analyzed and is abstracted into a modular k-out-of-n system model.And calculation method of the survivability can be obtained by using the concept of signature.Finally,the influence of the number of nodes,the number of clusters and the lifetime of the nodes on the survivability is given by numerical analysis.According to the clustering structure of network,the survivability analysis of wireless sensor network is provided based on the energy consumption of the nodes and data transmission.The instantaneous reliability of sensor node is obtained by analyzing its energy consumption,and the working ability of every cluster can be computed according to the k-out-of-n structure in cluster and the transmission quality between nodes and cluster head.Then the survivability indexes of whole network is confirmed by considering the routing ways of inter-clusters.Finally,the survivability of nodes,cluster head and network is given.The numerical results show that the energy consumption of network,which is compared with transmission capacity,is an important factor to influence the survivability.
