Synthesizing characteristic of the surveillance technologies' development, this thesis will introduce a panoramic video surveillance system implemented by Nios II soft-core and VGA display based on FPGA board, which is better than the single direction?single point and low resolution of monitoring on the market. In system design 8 CMOS image sensors each by name OV9650 has been used for capturing panoramic video. The image sensors were initialized and pre-processed the video data by a CPLD chip, then the captured video data was sent to the FPGA board. In FPGA board, the panoramic video data will be processed with two techniques: remote surveillance and local surveillance. The remote surveillance technique is the panoramic video data can be displayed by any computer through entering to the surveillance Internet network.Purpose of second technique local surveillance that the user can control each camera then the video data can be displayed in any VGA port screen. The remote surveillance technique implemented in following sequences: the video data will be inputted to the SOPC system which consists of dual Nios II soft-cores and relevant peripherals.Multi-core architecture was used to capture, store, and transfer the video images.Firstly, this design used RAM controller, which meets the AVALON bus criterion to capture the video data which in the RAM.Furthermore, opening the DMA transmission and storing the video data into the SRAM in meanwhile, transplanting uC/OS-II system in another Nios II soft-core,next the panoramic video data were transfer to the Internet network. The implementation of local surveillance started with putting the video data to the ADV7123 VGA module. This design used VHDL to realize the drive program of the SDRAM and the timing of VGA.Moreover, this design realized data interaction between the image sensor,SDRAM and VGA;they were with different drive clocks. Finally,we chose FPGA development board provided by Altera as a test platform, and the experimental results illustrated that this design achieved the expected goals.
