In recent years,with the continuous development of embedded facility in the field of real-time control and the structure of DSP is becoming more and more complex.Research-development cycle of embedded chip and the mainboard becomes longer and longer.In traditional development process,the development of software and hardware is mutually limited,thus the serial development mode greatly lays the progress of research and development.Therefore,simulator of DSPs on hardware instruction function can greatly shorten the embedded software development cycle,improve the efficiency of research and development of an embedded chip.The paper firstly explains the object of the project and gives clear presentation of the DSP chip which is simulated.The chip TMS320C67X which is described by the paper is a series of high-performance chips from Texas Instruments,using VLIW technology,built-in 8 parallel logic processing units.Papers firstly states structure and composition of the chip,analyzes the working principle of the chip,then studies the chip instruction set,summarizes the characteristics of the chip.For the simulator strategy,the paper analyses and compares the major techniques,explaining two methods of the instruction simulator technology,which are called compiling-mode and explaining-mode,commonly used in the simulator industry.Then it summarizes their respective advantages and disadvantages.Then the paper gives the demand analysis of the project based on used situation.Based on the demand,the paper designs the complete whole model.Giving the principle of the DSP working line and the features of the DSP,several parts of the simulator are designed and implemented respectively,mainly including the instruction set system and COFF execution program loader.Each model is presented from design of the model to the implementation.Secondly this paper make it clear that how to use the simulator and the running environment,after that,it proposes a design of case covering the total instruction set and functions of the simulator,which tests the correctness and completeness of the simulator.Considering the non-function demand,the paper gives a plan to test performance which is accord with the plan.Finally,the thesis states the improvements which is need of in the simulator and the further work is prospected.The simulator completes the most functions of the DSP hardware in software model.As mentioned earlier,the simulator mainly implements the instruction set function of the TMS320C67X,in addition,other parts of the hardware system is also implemented completely.The simulator is used in the project in fact,improving the efficiency of the embedded software development.All in all,it gives lots of advantages in embedded software development.
