With the rapid development of Internet technology,social media have been springing up and enjoying booming popularity,from which derived the phenomenon “Internet Celebrities”(people who became famous by putting their videos on the Internet).“Internet Celebrities” are becoming increasingly popular either through special individuality,good morals and conducts or through vulgar,funnybehavior.Despite various reasons for its popularity,the phenomenon “ Internet Stars”,listed among the top 10 “2015 Hottest Words Online”,has been arousing attention from both the public and the media.However,the public may often have a misunderstanding of some “Internet Celebrities”,believing what they show on the Internet is vulgar and just to draw public attention.Centering on “Internet Celebrities”,this thesis,with the method of content analysis,explores 904 reports from Baidu News between 2015 and 2016.As for content analysis,the thesis summarizes the features of “Internet Celebrities”reports from five perspectives namely theme,gender,occupation and the way reports and comments were given.As to image analysis,the thesis divides the images of“Internet Celebrities” into six categories:accomplished ones,ones who draw public attention through affairs,ones spreading“positive energy”,good-looking ones,ones with a strong money-making ability and ones who tend to commit crimes.All the above images are either negative or positive.In conclusion,the images of “Internet Celebrities”are various and have both negative and positive comments from netizens.Besides,their economic images are similar and lopsided.In the remaining parts,the thesis investigates how the images of “Internet Celebrities”are presented by media and what problems may ensue.Finally,the thesis gives suggestions on how to improve the media image of “Internet Celebrities”.
