The New Life Movement Of The Hui Press

Since the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,intellectuals of the Chinese Hui started to found the newspapers and magazines.These intellectuals had using these media to enlighten the people,reform the religion,develop the education,spread the new Islamic culture and express the spiritual pursuit of the Chinese Hui.All these media had a profound influence on the Hui community.As minority ethnic media,these media were different from the mainstream media,these newspapers and magazines not only records the history of the republic of China with a unique perspective,but also spread the advanced thoughts and ideas in its special way.With the rise of the new culture movement of the Chinese Hui,these newspapers and magazines calls for the culture and customs innovation of the Chinese Hui community.In February 1934,Chiang kai-shek initiated the New Life Movement in Nanchang of Jiangxi province.On this background,a group of the Chinese intellectual using these media interpreted the New Life Movement from their own ethnic cultural perspective to promote the New Life Movement of the Chinese Hui.This present research apply content analysis and case study on the most influential Hui newspapers in the period of the republic of China.The findings show that the newspapers and magazines of the Chinese Hui play the important role in education,provide information,spread culture and public opinion guide.Firstly,the media of the Chinese Hui involved in the New Life Movement by news reports and public opinion guide.Secondly,by comment on current events and rational reflection of the Chinese Hui's Culture,the newspapers and magazines promoted the innovation of the Chinese Hui's culture and life,strengthen the awareness of the ethnic consciousness,national consciousness and modern civilization consciousness.The launch of the new life movement was the manifestation of the anti-Japanese movement under the specific historical background,it was showing the unyielding ethnic spirit and patriotism of the Chines Hui.It was an important part of the Hui culture during the period of the republic of China.The new life movement of the newspapers and magazines can be used for reference in contemporary China for unity and prosperity of the Chinese nation...
