Stream Control Transmission Protocol(SCTP)is a connection-oriented,reliable transport layer protocol, which not only inherits the strong congestion control mechanism, packet loss discovery and other functions from TCP,and SCTP supports multi-host,multi-path and other characteristics. At the same time,SCTP has its own unique security features.Because of these unique advantages,SCTP is gradually considered can be applied to transmit high-speed data as a new generation of transport layer protocol in the future.TCP is widely used as a reliable transport layer protocol currently, and for SCTP,it is rarely used at present. Some characters of SCTP protocols such as multi-host,multi-path and other features are not applied to the actual production environment. For the wired-wireless network,it has a greater degree of instability than a simple wired network, and the network topology is prone to change. This is a great challenge to ensure a more stable throughput and a greater transmission rate.SCTP have many advantages on multi-host and multi-path.How to combine these advantages to improve the reliability of data transmission in the network has a certain positive significance. In this paper,we simulate the wired-cum-wireless network in NS2.We change the network conditions by setting the error rate of the data packet. We analyze the performance of SCTP and TCP in the cases of different packet error rates, such as throughput, package loss rate in wired-cum-wireless network.Through the comparison of these performance indicators,we give some suggestions on how to choose the transmission protocol and switch the path to optimize the transmission performance. After analyzing the results,it can be found that the combination of TCP and SCTP and the multi-path characteristics of SCTP can improve data transmission efficiency.
