The safety of driverless vehicles relies on the support of VANET.This paper mainly studies the authentication protocol and key management protocol of the driverless vehicles' communication protocol in VANET.It is found that the existing authentication protocol in VAN ET can not realize the direct authentication of the non-local authentication servers to the driverless vehicles.Besides,the existing group key management protocol in VANET not only has the problem of managing the group session key intensively but also does not meet the demand of driverless vehicles' unicast communication.This paper improves the existing cross-regional authentication protocol to solve the problem that the non-local authentication servers cannot authenticate the driverless vehicles directly.In the improved protocol,the offsite driverless vehicles send authentication request that contains registration information to regional authentication servers which can authenticate them directly by a round of information interaction.The program analysis shows that the improved protocol ensures the security of system and improves the efficiency of cross-regional authentication for driverless vehicles in VANET.According to the differences of the driverless vehicles' communication type,V2 I group key management protocol and V2 V key management protocol are analyzed and improved respectively.For the V2 I communication system,this paper designs the V2 I group key management protocol based on the broadcast key negotiation.In this protocol,the V2 I communication system is composed of RSUs and the float driverless vehicles with public attributes.They are responsible for negotiating and updating group session keys.The analysis shows that the protocol does not need a trusted third party to manage key centrally,which solves the problem of managing the group session key intensively.Besides,the function of automatic updating key is added for driverless vehicles which increases the security of the members ' key in V2 I and has little effect on the overall cost of V2 I communication system.For the V2 V communication system,this paper improves the IBE key management protocol and designs the distributed IBE key management protocol.In this protocol,the V2 V communication system is constituted of float and ordinary driverless vehicles.The float driverless vehicles are chose as service nodes which are responsible for recovering the system master key and generating private key for ordinary driverless vehicles.Finally,the driverless vehicles negotiate the session key by IBE and Diffie-Hellman algorithms.By analysis,the protocol solves the key escrow problem of key management protocol based on IBE and improves the security of session key without adding too much communication delay.
