At present,the electronic information industry has developed rapidly,and the information needed to exchange and processed increased day by day,and the requirement of the switch and the exchange network also needed eagerly.The functions complexity of the SoC chip of the switch has brought a great challenge of the verification,which made traditional software simulation tools had been unable to completely solve the verification problem.And as more and more real-time handling applications appeared,the validation techniques needed to process in near real-time frequency conditions,and the method of FPGA-based prototyping has become the inevitable choice before the SoC chip tapeout.Therefore,taking the design of a Fibre channel switch SoC chip as the background,this paper focused on the FPGA prototyping verification implementation methods of the SoC chip.We developed a verification method of the switch SoC chip,including extraction of functions,the implementation of the switch chip SoC prototype circuit,and the building of the verification environment.We designed the FPGA adoptable codes based on the RTL codes of the SoC design,including storage unit,clock unit design,high-speed channel substitution,the design of the top.Then we continued on the process of the FPGA device mapping,and designed the timing constraints of the switch prototype circuit,and simulated the functions of the swich.According to the features and needs of the switch chip,we designed and built the switch verification platform and writed the verification codes,and verified every function of the switch we extracted before,mainly including switch module and monitor module of the switch.By the analysis of the verification results,the FPGA based verification of the switch could got 100%functional coverage,and the total verification time could be much less than the virtual simulation verification.In total,the FPGA based verification method improved verification efficiency and increased greatly the success rate of taping out of the switch SoC chip.
