The routing technology is one key technology in WSN, as well as one of the mostimportant factors of affecting the WSN’s performance. The majority of routing protocolsin WSN come from the protocols in the wired network, which are not suitable for theWSN with unstable link status because of the prior practice of determining an end-to-endpath. But the opportunistic routing makes full use of the time-varying characteristic ofwireless channel quality and the broadcasting nature of wireless channel to improveeffectively the performance of wireless networks, and become one of the hottestresearches in the wireless field. Because the battery is not easy to replace and its power islimited in WSN, the design about opportunistic routing will set saving energy andenergy-efficient applications as an important task. The paper studies energy-savingstrategy of opportunistic routing.Firstly, on the basis of access to large amounts of literatures, the paper introduces theresearch background and significance of WSN, and then describes the research status oftraditional routing protocols in WSN and opportunistic routing protocols.Secondly, the IETX routing metric is likely to cause network energy consumptionuneven, so this paper proposes the EIETX routing metric based on the energy restriction.Then, the strategy for selecting forwarding candidates set based on EIETX is proposed toresolve the problem of selecting forwarding candidates set in the opportunistic routing.The strategy balances the network energy consumption, and extends the network lifecycle.Thirdly, since network nodes use a uniform transmission power, which is a waste ofenergy, the forwarding energy efficiency model is established for the shortcoming. Theforwarding energy efficiency model can optimize the forwarding candidate set and powerfor each node, then an optimized forwarding the candidate set and the self-adaption poweradjustment algorithm is put forward.Finally, the paper does a simulation experiment about the routing metric based onEIETX and the APExOR protocol in NS2. Simulation results show that, The EIETXrouting metrics relative to the IETX routing metric balances network energy consumption, meainwhile the performance of the APExOR protocol with respect to the ExOR protocolhas improved...
