In recent years,the compound eye imaging system has been widely studied at home and abroad,and it is one of the future development directions of optical imaging technology,which has the advantages of large field of view,small volume and light weight.The compound eye imaging system simulates the structural form of the insect compound eye,uses the multiple sub-apertures to image the scene,and then processes the acquired sub-image through the computer to obtain the final desired image.Since the size of the compound eye system is usually limited,thus the diameter of the sub-aperture is also limited.After the stitching process,the image field is larger but the resolution is low,which is not able to meet the needs of remote sensing and aerial reconnaissance.On the other hand,the compound eye system which imaging the same area can often obtain a resolution-enhanced image with the image reconstruction algorithm,but its field of view is often limited.Therefore,for the existing compound eye system,we need to find an improved method to solve the functional contradictions in the above two kinds of compound eye systems.In view of the above problems,this paper presents the dual-mode compound eye imaging system,including the large field mode and the high resolution mode.The system is a deep improvement of the traditional compound eye system.In the large FOV mode,it is similar with the traditional compound eye system,which is able to imaging with large field of view.At the same time,if all the sub-apertures imaging the same field,this system is able to process the captured sub-images with high-resolution reconstruction algorithm,and thus greatly enhance the imaging resolution,and that is the high-resolution mode.In this paper,the principle and method of the compound eye system are analyzed,and the feasibility of the dual-mode imaging is verified by constructing the experimental device,which provides a new idea for the future development of the compound eye imaging system.The main work of this paper includes the following:1.The advantages and disadvantages of the existing compound eye system are analyzed,and the dual mode compound eye imaging system is put forward.Through the theoretical analysis,we know the imaging ability of the compound eye system in large field mode and high resolution mode,including the improvement of field of view and resolution.The algorithm used in this paper is described in detail,including the image mosaic algorithm in the large field mode and the image reconstruction algorithm in the high resolution mode.The simulation and analysis are carried out by simulation.2.Based on the above theoretical analysis,a design method of dual-mode compound eye system is proposed,and a set of verification device of the system is designed.The feasibility of the system is verified by the experimental scheme in the experiment.In the large field mode,a field of view of about 85 ° × 66 ° is obtained,and the image resolution is doubled to the diffraction limit of the sub-aperture in the high resolution mode.
