As the maturation of detectors, computer processing and precision have become more sophistic, bionic compound eye imaging systems are increasingly used in detection, guidance and other fields. However, the traditional compound eye system can only image in single band, which limits its normal using in complex environments(smog, darkness). In this paper,an LWIR and VIS dual-band compound eye system is proposed based on the single-band bionic compound eye imaging system. It solves the contradiction between the large angle of field and the high resolution of the traditional single-aperture telescope,it can solve the problem that single-band compound eye detection unitary means of detection in complex environment. In this paper, discussed the packing arrangement of the field of view first, then the optical path of the dual-band optical system is determined, analyzed and compared the principle of the infrared material and the athermal technology. The optical and structural design of the whole eye were carried out.A theoretical alignment scheme was put forward for the sub eye and the entirety.Determined the dual-band bionic compound eye structure of 4 arrays and 61 units with the field angle of 120 degrees. Finally,an error analysis method is proposed to analyzed the rotation angle error of the system.Verify the system error, and the system accords with technical index.Manufactured a single-band compound eye structure with 29 units for text. The experimental results showed that the system was able to work properly, which provides a theoretical basis for the development of dual-band bionic compound eye in the future. The design of dual-band bionic compound eye solves the normal work problem that the traditional single band compound eye can not realize complex environment, and puts forwar-d the theoretical basis for dual-band compound eye structure.
