STB(Set-Top Box)middleware is generally provided by third party chip manufacturers,different chip manufacturers customize the development of middleware according to the integration documents,with different API standards and characteristics.For STB manufacturers,it means to repeat a custom development process that every time they need to launch a new middleware or dock with another chip manufacturer.This greatly affects production efficiency and scale,and also increases the cost at the same time.Therefore,it is necessary to set up a unified standardized design for the integrated interfaces of Set-Top Box.Aiming at this demand,this paper studies a set of unified interfaces of Set-Top Box,which are designed based on mstar chipset.The design make standardized encapsulation of the vary functions of digital set-top boxes which chip manufacturers need to provide,and they can complete the research and development of relevant functions with simple call of these unified interfaces.The system tests about functions and performance indicate that these unified interfaces have loose coupling,they are easy to integrate,easy to expand and easy to maintain,with more perfect function,higher integration efficiency,superior stability and portability,comparing with some existing system interfaces.Based on the research of current digital set-top box business,the paper makes analysis about unified interface function requirements.It get the list of specific integrated functions involved by the system business.According to the list of functions it makes corresponding system architecture design with the module division of the system integrated functions.Furthermore,the module design of each module is carried out,specifically including: OS module,corresponding to the operating system function;SOCKET module,corresponding to the network communication function;FS module,corresponding to the file storage function;OSD module,corresponding to the on-screen display function;Multimedia module,corresponding to the multimedia application function.Then the paper specifically realize main modules of the system,and complete tests in both fuction and performance.Finally,it draws the conclusion and put forward the next step to improve the system.This topic choose the representative and well-known Mstar chipset,and three representative chip manufacturers:DVN,Coship,and Digital.In accordance with the more stringent radio and television acceptance criteria of Guangdong Province,Henan Province and Tianjing City,the system performs well in the testing.The unified interfaces the paper designed is stable and reliable to meet the function needs about middleware.It's perfect function support can fully improve the integration performance and efficiency,as well as greatly reduce the difficulty and cost of integration.It can play a very good practical value in aspect of product promotion,economic efficiency and R & D cost and efficiency.
