Although infrared imaging technology is widely applied in the field of military and civilian,the infrared imaging system produce excess data of infrared small target video resulting in great challenges to the transmission,storage and processing procedures.Recently,compressive sensing(CS),as a new signal processing theory,has intrigued considerable attention.It has the ability to compress sparse signals in efficiency.According to the specific application context,this paper presents a solution to apply CS to the compression of infrared small target video.The main work includes the following several parts:1)Based on the application scenarios of detecting and tracking infrared small target,a separable row-column CS method for 2D images was proposed in this paper with the CS of separable object and background image.Row-column CS made up the flaws of the existing block-based and 1D-based CS method,could effectively measure rows and columns of image one by one.Moreover,for the row-column CS,FFT was introduced into the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit(OMP)algorithm to calculate inner product,which effectively saved memory space and accelerated reconstruction speed.2)A circuit for the row-column compressive sensing was devised and realized on FPGA.This circuit was mainly composed of accumulators,a transpose memory and a controller based on the finite state machine.It was typical of high speed in processing and low cost in logic resource.3)According to the method of separable compressive sensing for video,a compression and transmission system for infrared small target video was implemented in the existing DSP and FPGA.This system achieved many functions: the separation of foreground and background image,row-column compressive sensing of foreground image,video encoding of background image,network transmission of video data,image reconstruction and restoration of infrared small target video.The tests to each module and to the whole system both showed that the system achieved the desired functions,which validated the efficiency and feasibility of the row-column compressive sensing method.In this paper,CS was applied to the compression of infrared small target video,which proved to be rather effective in video compression.This method has great theoretical significance and remarkable application prospect and is also a new try for practical application of CS.
