As one of core technologies for infrared-guidance, infrared warning system and infrared detection system, infrared small target detection and tracking has been an important topic in the field of infrared image processing. In recent years, compressive sensing(Compressive Sensing or Compressive Sampling, CS) technology has become a hot topic in the field of signal processing, and is successfully used in radar and infrared system. With the background of national defense project, the paper has studied infrared small target detection and tracking based on compressive measurements. The main work is as follows:1) To solve the problem existing in conventional signal sparse representation, the paper proposes a novel CS framework for separable sparse signal, which has given a new signal sparse representation, making the subsequent processing more flexible, extensible. Simultaneously, focused on infrared small target image signal, two kinds of processing methods are put forward according to the proposed framework.2) Under the guidance of the proposed CS framework, the infrared small target detection based on compressive measurements is researched. Firstly, a new compressive detector for small infrared target image is presented, implementing target detection in compressive domain effectively. Then, due to the diversity of infrared small target images, three different target positioning methods are presented. Experimental work shows that they all have desirable target positioning performance.3) Based on infrared target detection and positioning with single sensor, target tracking in 3D space is investigated. The measurements to tracks association is performed by a modified Hough transform for single sensor. The unscented Kalman filter(UKF) is employed after associating the detected line segments from each sensor. This off-line processing is simulated and the results show that it is effective and efficient.Through applying the CS theory to infrared small target detection and tracking, this paper works out the problem existing in practical defense project, brings novel idea for infrared small target image processing, extends the application of CS in the field of signal processing.
