Reconstruct Community

The crisis of modernity makes the relationships of traditional community into disintegration and the relationships of new community are too utilitarian,losing the core function of activating and maintaining the society."A ritual view of communication" believes that an important function of communication is to form new types of social communication,new social culture and social relations and then,to re-shape the social community.The core issue of this paper is whether we can reconstruct community through the way of communication to bridge the various kinds of fracture brought by modernity in today's society or not and what the reconstruct mechanism and effect of this new community is.As a cultural community that based on real cultural needs and established through the self-organization,the Trefoil Story Family is different from the traditional community and the utilitarian community in modern society,it focuses on parent-child reading and common cultural needs called parent-child cultural heritage.Starting from Shenzhen,make a lot of families be together,and finally achieve the big connection among a large number of families that across different cities.Since having been setting up for 7 years,The Trefoil Story Family's community-reading-stations have spread into 12 cities and 54 sites and have affected more than 30000 families across the country.Firstly,this paper has combed the concept of a ritual view of communication,clarifying the two misreading of this concept in previous studies,picking out the functional characteristics of a ritual view of communication——the presence of body,participatory interaction and the intersubjectivity-conversation-culture,and analyzing the functions of "communication" and " Ritual " in maintaining society with the same and different points—— communication is the intrinsic activity in the formation and adaptation of society,and a kind of tactical self-help for people in structured suffocation,ritual creates the necessary conditions for the maintenance of community and the power to interfere into the real world—— identity,recognition and the resource integration.Literature researching has formed parallel analysis framework of the interactive communication mechanism and the ritual production mechanism.The author has studied the Trefoil Story Family's interactive communication mechanism that activating community and the ritual production mechanism that sustaining community through participatory observation and in-depth interviews based on the analysis framework.Next,this paper has analyzed the value of the community reconstruction and has explored the inner link among the social participatory interaction between individuals and groups,the public communication,urban culture,and has revealed the social impact of community reconstruction on the urban cultural revitalization based on the analysis framework of The Trefoil Story Family.Through the analysis of this case,we find that the community reconstruction can suture the fragmented society broken by the modernity.On the one hand,the dual trend of cultural mediatization and media culturalization highlights the performance of that the process of communication is the process of cultural precipitation,and reconstructing community reshape public communication through the reconstruction of public culture.On the other hand,reconstructing community creates rich and sticky "weak-ties",rebuild the social life of the public and activate the communicative city;finally,the community reconstruction could create favorable conditions for the good governance of urban culture.
