By virtue of its real,entertainment,interactive features,net-made reality show occupied half of the net market,but because of the problem of entertainment vulgarization suffered criticism.The success of the online homemade reality show,?On The Road?,with "high-click,zero-score" success,is a key to the spread of mainstream values.In this paper,?On The Road? as the research object,the media function as the theoretical basis to explore the content of the value orientation and narrative means of success.Based on the theories of media function,media,metaphor and mimicry,this paper uses the method of content analysis to sort out the core values of ?On The Road? and "Affection".It believes that the ultimate love,life and death friendship,national play and attitude towards life and so is the " Affection " performance,in line with the mainstream value of the community and fully aroused the audience's emotional resonance.The narrative path of documentary and thrilling also carries the value.At the same time,its value orientation is also affected by many factors.Social mainstream trends to promote the integration of personal ideals and national dreams,laying the tone for its content orientation,which the market competition also makes the producers see vulgar entertainment of the dead end.The success of?On The Road?proved the reality show only to the popular culture,the mainstream culture as the value basis,which taking into account the public interest,social interests and aesthetic and economic interests.It can correctly play the role of media culture for the public to actively guide the media industry is conducive to the healthy and orderly development.
