“Science and technology dramatically facilitate the development of media, and Media renews humanities." This trend is the main theme of human age. As the carrier of information dissemination in the digital era,the digital museum is a new form of exhibition design. It displays the contents of exhibition in a way that human could interact with the information in visual and vivid form as much as possible. Also as the means and method in the application of new media, the "new",of new media technology makes it have the unique features and thus become a more direct, efficient and comprehensive means of display design.Absolutely, the introduction of new media technology will bring a "new"revolution to the development of digital museum design.New media display design in digital age is the main research object of this paper, which is based on the theory of Media Ecology. It starts from the perspective of "Understanding New Media" to specifically introduce the concept of the Digital Museum. And it expounds the differences between the digital museum and the traditional museum from three dimensions of display content, display media and communication relationship. Under the basis of this study, the new trend of display design in digital age, as well as the application of new media technology in digital museum design is further elaborated. Starting from the perspective of the three elements on information dissemination "communicators,recipients, media",we combined them with a large number of typical cases in the specific research process, such as:?taking "Digital Imperial Palace","Digital DunHuang" as an example to analyze the difference between the digital museum and the traditional museum; ? starting from the development history of World Expo and combined with the specific cases to analyze the new trend of display design in the digital age including the humanization of display design, interactive of user participation and diversity of technical means; ?combined with the specific design of China Pavilion in World Expo Milan 2015 to analyze the application types of new media technologies in the digital museum design and the new changes of digital museum.This paper combines the new media theory with the application study of new media technology in the digital museum design. And it takes the typical cases as examples to expound the new design concept in digital museum design brought by the new media technology. Then it establishes a hierarchy model of influencing factors on the visual experience in new media exhibition by Analytic Hierarchy Process and determines the weights of various factors. It also establishes the visual experience impact system of new media exhibition to guide the design practice and thus conduct the design evaluation. On the base of the study to further thinking and sum up, this paper proposes the issues that should be aware of and the new thinking on future development of the digital museum in the era of new media technology.
