Internet of Things has brought a new round of information technology revolution to the Internet, mobile communication and computers. It has been applied to many fields and accelerated the popularity of information technology among traditional industries.As the representative of clean and recyclable energy, photovoltaic power generation has several advantages compared to thermal power generation. However, as the lack of core technology, and the high rate of device malfunctioning, photovoltaic power generation is making slow progress in China.Based on the background mentioned above, a photovoltaic module monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is designed to monitor operation parameters, locate fault reasons and make correct decisions, which can lower fault rates and stabilize the whole system.The system includes a hardware module which is made up of a GPS module, all kinds of sensors, a ZigBee short distance communication module and a GPRS long distance communication module, an upper computer software, an engineer client software and a node self-positioning software.Under lab simulation, the node positioning method based on MB-IPF shows promising results. The whole system is well functioning and provides useful information for data analysis and decision making.
