As modern medical services have developed rapidly, the use of medical information system will gradually replace the traditional way of patients' visiting the doctor. Therefore, this paper investigates the hospital and the patient's needs for diagnosis and treatment, examines the issue of"three long and one short" (long registration time, long waiting time, long payment time and short treatment time), and eventually designs and implements a hospital self-service system.First of all, through the analysis of the system requirements, we design function modules, such as registering, paying, booking, invoice printing, de-registering, inquiry and so on. Then we design the business process and database tables of the function modules, use Delphi,Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 and other technologies, and realize a hospital self-service system based on the C/S architecture. Finally we describe the operation of the system and verify its feasibility.Using this hospital self-service system, the patients can help themselves to enjoy those outpatient services, such as to make an appointment, to register, to pay, and to check. This provides great convenience for the process of visiting the doctor, reduces the work load of hospital staff, effectively shortens waiting time, as well as improves the environment of medical services. This self-service system can identify service requests from the online bookings, telephone bookings, outpatient service windows, mobile phone APPs and hospital self-service terminals,as well as outpatient doctor workstation channels. It uses the mode of"treatment before payment",adds many convenient ways of payment for patients and greatly reduces the complexity of patients' visiting the doctor.
