Research And Application Of WLAN Performance Optimization Based On Measurement Report

With the "smart city" concept proposed and mobile data services developing, the demand and deployment of outdoor wireless local area networks (WLAN) is increasing. Due to the lack of network planning or unreasonable network planning, the quality of the WLAN need to be promoted urgently. Therefore, the optimization scheme for WLAN performance which should be more convenient and consider user experience is becoming a hot research topic. For this reason, this thesis studies and implements a WLAN performance optimization scheme based on measurement report.The proposed scheme includes WLAN performance measurement,performance display and analysis and performance optimization. For the performance measurement, the design and implementation of the measurement report application which considering user experience and system functions complete based on the basic principle of measurement report. For the performance display and analysis, a scheme of improved fingerprint is proposed to solve the problem that the indoor data may be mislocated to the outside to ensure the validity of the data. In addition, the data is processed and the results of the network performance based on geographical location can be displayed by Web. According to the measurement and display, this thesis analyzes the network performance of outdoor WLAN in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.In the aspect of performance optimization, a network quality evaluation model considering user experience is proposed, and a network optimization scheme from the aspects of coverage optimization and frequency optimization is proposed.The innovations of this thesis include:1. Anew WLAN performance measurement and analysis system based on measurement report is designed and implemented. This thesis uses the method of measurement report based on the mobile terminal to measure and collect the WLAN performance parameters. Different from the traditional measurement methods, measurement report does not need special human and material inputs and can measure for a long time and wide range. In addition, the measurement data is close to the user experience. After transmitting, storing and processing the measured data,it is convenient, intuitive and quick to obtain the network performance display and contrast of the signal strength, number of access points and channel usage of each network through the Web.2. Based on the measurement data, a network performance evaluation model is proposed. This thesis analyzes the poor coverage area of the network to optimize it by increasing the access point. In view of the over-coverage area, a channel allocation scheme is proposed which based on the measurement report data and can solve the hidden terminal problem to enhance network performance.
