In recent years,as the rapid development of mobile communication technology,the network has higher requirements for communication node device's time synchronization accuracy.Satellite time service is a mature program at this stage,but is has high cost problem,siting and construction difficulties and high failure rate,even political insecurity factor.IEEE1588v2 is a network protocol of time synchronization which has high time synchronization accuracy in nanosecond.Telecom operators has regarded IEEE1588v2 as the future mainstream technology of time synchronization technology.With the popularity of 3G and the approaching of 4G,the fast development of wireless data and video traffic promotes the sustained growth requirements of wireless network for coverage and bandwidth.Operators need to find wireless backhaul programs which have services safety and quality assurance to reduce costs.The wireless backhaul program for femto or small base station,which based on PON's multi-service carrying capacity,has better cost advantage than PTN equipments program.However,3G's CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA,4G's LTE both use synchronous base station technology which needs backhaul network provide high accuracy time synchronization.So PON must support high accuracy time synchronization to meet wireless backhaul application scenarios.This paper will introduce the background and current situation of IEEE 1588v2 time synchronization research based on PON system.And the IEEE 1588v2 protocol's basic framework and operational mechanism will be expounded.Based on it,this paper proposes a whole system solution program for PON's IEEE 1588v2.Then three important parts of PON's time synchronization system and corresponding design scheme will be described in detail.We have realize the design in fiberhome's GPON and EPON equipments.From it,we have gotten amounts of comprehensive test data and conclusion.
