Pulse Doppler(PD) radar belongs to a fully coherent radar. Based on the Doppler Effect which is generated from the relative motion between the radar transmit signal and moving objects, it can discover and extract the target signal. PD radar has not only high range resolution and speed resolution,but also can inhibit the strong ground clutter signals, It ensures that the PD radar can be widely used in complex environment.The main meaning of this paper is to build a simulation model of PD radar. The experiment can realize the main function of PD radar module. We use theoretical analysis and performance comparison of different methods.The thesis introduced the principle of chirp signal and pulse compression technology in the second chapter,compared with those two methods which achieve the pulse compression technology. By the comparison of Matlab simulation and consider device resources, the thesis chooses time domain method to achieve the pulse compression technology. The third chapter introduces the principle of MTI?MTD and CFAR which are involved in the moving target detection and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of different methods to achieve these three technologies. Based on the theoretical analysis, the fourth chapter of the actual situation establishs radar target echo function. Adding clutter and noise interference to the echo could make echo signals closer to the real situation. Using Matlab could simulate the signal processing method which is involved in the PD radar and analyze the simulation results. Using three pulse indication technology could achieve MTI,using filter bank could achieve MTD,using window function could inhibit the shortcoming of excessive sidelobe,and using slowly constant false alarm rate method could achieve CFAR.Finally, in order to make the simulation platform of pulse Doppler radar more perfectly,the thesis uses hardware to implement the simulation system in the fifth chapter. Hardware implementation contains two parts. In the first part,the circuitry which uses a core chip named EP3SE50F780I3 that belonges to Altera Stratix ? series is designed and each module of the circuit is described in detail. In the second part, According to Matlab simulation the Verilog language that is used to design of FPGA is written Article uses hardware simulation software named Modesim to confirm the simulation solution of signal processing module involved in the experiment and compares the solution with the simulation results of Matlab. Finally,writing the program to the circuit board to generate the actual data, Creating a GUI interface can read the actual data and generate waveform of the data, using the waveform of GUI interface and simulation results generated in the Modesim for the second comparison. It has proven the correctness of the theory once again.
