With the development of semiconductor process, CMOS image sensor has developed increasingly. The market share keeps increasing. It has begun to gradually replace the CCD image sensor. Especially the CMOS image sensor with high resolution, high frame rate and high sensitivity, has been widely used in the fields of scientific research, astronomical observation, industrial measurement, aerial reconnaissance and even the military. And the requirements of the image sensors' performance are very strict in these fields. Therefore we need a performance test device for image sensor in selecting,testing and screening.This paper is based on the experience of the project about CMOS image sensor testing system during master's course. And particularly analyze the software, hardware realization methods of the CMOS image sensor testing system. In view of a series of problems in the traditional testing device, we design a kind of modular image sensor testing device for improvement. The device has the characteristics of fast test speed, stable, reliable, real-time monitoring,and has a strong commonality for different models of CMOS image sensor.In addition, this paper also focuses on the data collection circuit board's design and analysis in order to ensure the accuracy and stability of the test. And some high speed signal routing rules are made to ensure the integrity of the signal. When designing the hardware circuit we divide it into two independent parts based on modular design, to make the test device can quickly and efficiently test different models of CMOS image sensorFinally, this paper analyzes the hardware circuit of the test system from three aspects: the circuit noise, the speed matching between each module and the FPGA resource usage. Then a CMOS image sensor was repeatedly tested and the experimental results were analyzed.
