The Bias Study Report Of Our Country News Portal Crime News Reports

In the past five years,more and more netizens have been using news portals to get news information.The criminal news information is deeply received by the audience because of its natural sensationalism and irritability.In the current circumstance which the Internet population is growing,and the number of criminal case registered by the public security organs in our country is increasing year by year,the news portals driven by commercial interests may be in the pursuit of hits and traffic,leading to bias in criminal news report.This study attempts to serve news portal in China as the research object,conducting a total of five years of crime news reports from 2011 to 2015 as all sample study,combining with the Python programming language for data cleaning and selection,puts forward the four questions about the bias,and construct four categories of the corresponding number of the reports,monthly reports,every year,the crime scene,men's and women's gender number.Also,this study induces the news portal if have bias during report crime and the possible causes of bias are made to explain,proposals are put forward at the same time.Through the study we can find that on the number of reported each year,compared with the nonviolent crime of theft,media reported more towards violent crime in the crime to kill,and exaggerated in number;On the number of monthly reports,monthly murder crime news quantity are in conformity with the actual crime situation in general,show the peak concentration in August,low concentrated in February,but also exists in individual bias;Involved in murder crime news on the scene,"coastal provinces " and "inland provinces" did not have obvious bias,but from the point of view of individual provinces,the media pay closer attention to eastern provinces in our country,pay the less attention on northwest provinces;In terms of gender,the media is more likely to report women than men,and to exaggerate the number of women reported in the news coverage of the crime.In aggregate,the Chinese news portal website is broadly in line with the crime situation compared to the actual crime.In response to this bias,the Chinese news portal website and relevant policies should be adjusted to minimize bias in order to create an objective and impartial media image.
