It is needed to use body-fitted orthogonal grids in the fluid numerical simulation of estuarine and coastal water with complex geometryboundaries. We discussed the basic theory of the generation of body-fitted orthogonal grids in two-dimension in this paper.Body-fitted orthogonal grids are generated by solving Poissonelliptic partial differential equation with control functions which are derived by potential flow theory.Focuses on partial derivative of finite difference replacement, including the first order partial derivative,second-order partial derivative,second-order mixed partial derivative of differential forms. And as far as this provides P?Q control functions calculation and Poisson equation solving. This article presents the main zone and diggedzone, main zone and appending zone concept, and applies them to the generation of body-fitted orthogonal grids in complex area. Also we developed a body-fitted orthogonal grids generation tool,implementingbody-fitted orthogonal grid generation in both simply connected and multiple connected areas based on the Microsoft's VC ++ 6.0 development platform.Include inputting and modifying physical domain boundaries and generating and refiningbody-fitted orthogonal grids in complex areasautomatically, and provides a good human-computer interaction.
