With new detection technologies and means, the data that current weather networks can get is increasing explosively. The constant advancement in weather forecasting and climate estimation technologies, has required the weather networks to be more reliable, stable, safer, efficient and extendable. Although the grids networks can effectively meet the requirement, there are still many challenges in correspondence to the application of it.Computational grids system must be the computing system with most heterogeneous grid nodes and network resources. They possess an attractive potential in computing. The heterogeneity of the computational grids systems mainly exists in the process of deployment for grids applications. The accurate characteristics of the nodes must be described in order to deploy the network applications effectively on the computing resources. At first, mis paper concludes some instances of the real-world weather network, including simple network, network on different technologies, network with firewall,NAT and asymmetry links, and non-hierarchy networks. Then we analyze current works on network description and point out the shortcomings of existing works. In this paper, we present a description model for computational grids networks. With the way of inherit from parent network groups to child network groups, this topological description model of grids networks can describe complex network structures, such as asymmetric links, firewalls, non-IP networks, non-hierarchical topologies in a simple form. On the other hand, we have greatly reduced the workload by not considering the description of single switch or route, or single network link. We also provide a synthetic view of the topological structure for grids networks and simplify the process for resource nodes selection. After that, we use DAG to describe the topological structure of the networks, making the description complete by including the necessary information of the software which is available to access particular network technologies and allowing for specification of network performance properties. Finally, this paper implements key modules of this description model. Using methods different from former ones based on Globus MDS2, we map the topological description graph to hierarchy MDS and describe the graph with distributed XML descriptors. Some examples of describing realistic implement are also given.
