The emergence of metamaterials overturns the understanding of traditional materials,and its special electromagnetic properties make the design of the electromagnetic field has a new breakthrough.Microstrip antennas have been around for decades,and traditional design methods have been slowing down,but the combination of metamaterials and microstrip antennas has revitalized microstrip antenna designs.Although the theory of metamaterials has been studied in recent years,the application of metamaterials is still not mature.Therefore,the research on the application of metamaterials is still an important direction.The main results are as follows:1?The background of the research on the metamaterials and the present research situation at home and abroad are briefly introduced,and some basic theories of metamaterials are expatiated in detail.Firstly,the basic concepts of metamaterials are described in detail,and the classification of them is done in space.Then,the special properties of metamaterials,such as refractive index,permittivity and magnetic permeability,are introduced.The reason for the formation of the abnormal properties of the metamaterials is proved theoretically.At last,the propagation characteristics of electromagnetic waves in metamaterials are introduced.2?An H-type metamaterial resonator is designed based on the metamaterial theory,and its S-parameters are obtained by HFSS simulation.In order to obtain the equivalent parameters of metamaterials,this paper presents an equivalent parameter extraction method proposed by Smith team,and uses this method to extract the equivalent parameters of metamaterials.In order to prove the practicability of this kind of metamaterial,a 12-element microstrip line array antenna is designed,and the basic method of microstrip array antenna design is introduced in detail.The radiation pattern of array antenna is obtained by HFSS simulation.The H-type metamaterials are then loaded onto the array antenna.Finally,the simulation results show that the metamaterial can reduce the sidelobe level of the 12-element microstrip array antenna by about 3dB.3?Microstrip antenna multi-frequency antenna design is the future development of an important direction,this paper describes a number of traditional multi-band microstrip antenna technology.Based on the theory of metamaterials,a hexagonal open resonant ring is designed with reference to the traditional circular resonant ring(SRR).The S parameters are obtained by HFSS simulation and the equivalent parameters are extracted.In addition,a three-band microstrip antenna is designed,and then a hexagon-shaped resonant ring is loadedonto the microstrip antenna.Finally,the simulation results show that the resonant loop can increase the bandwidth of the antenna in the high frequency band.
