This dissertation can be divided into the following sections:The first part described the origin, background and corrunt research status of electromagnetic metamaterials.The second part described the mechanism and the special electromagnetic properties of electromagnetic metamaterials, introduced the negative characteristics of the left-handed materials and discussed the inverse Cherenkov radiation, exotic electromagnetic properties of the inverse Doppler effect, perfect lensing because of the negative refraction characteristics of left-handed materials characteristics. Further more the potential applications of these electromagnetic characteristics was discussed. Finally, the physical mechanism of the left-handed materials composed of periodic metal ring resonators and periodic array of metal rods and composite right/left-handed transmission line based transmission line theory of left-handed materials was researched.The third part used the EM simulation software produced by CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (hereinafter referred to as CST MWS which can be also called CST Microwave Studio) to research the metal Split Ring Resonator unit radius, gaps, the size of the ring width and the dielectric substrate on the impact of its electromagnetic properties, and explore the difference of electromagnetic parameters between bicyclic and monocyclic on this basis, and describes the bicyclic radius inside and outside the pitch, the relative position and other parameters with the bicyclic electronic characteristics in further.In part IV, this dissertation first introduced the use of metal Split Ring Resonator in the passband and stopband microstrip antenna and analyzed the size of the opening ring resonator, ring width, gaps, position and other parameters on the antenna passband and stopband. And then the dissertation simulated an ultra-wide band antenna, add openings in the antenna resonant ring structure of the antenna in3.5GHz,5.2GHz,5.8GHz,6.8GHz, the VSWR at such frequencies was greater than8and the dimension of the multi band-notched antenna is40×33×1mm3. In the end, a monopole antenna was simulated, by adding the SRRs structure, a multiband antenna with pass band at2.5GHz,3.5GHz and5.5GHz was implemented and the dimension of the multiband antenna is26x25x1.6mm3.
