Polarization is one of the bottlenecks to limit the development of high-speed optical fiber communications,and the emergence of the polarization controller is effective to solve this problem,thus has important research significance.At the same time,the negative effect of polarization mode dispersion can not be neglected.The measurement problem of polarization mode dispersion has always been a research hotspot.In this paper,the advantages and disadvantages of the current polarization controller was analyzed,the polarized light phenomenon is then described,expounding the Stokes vector and the Jones vector.The main work is design a set of open-loop electromechanical polarization control system based on extruded fiber,which uses the computer to transmit signals and realize the fast storage of data.The system uses the definition of principal-state-of-polarization,set up the matrix model of polarization controller,through the preparation of the Labview program,only need to enter the calculated voltage,you can get the required output polarization state.By comparing the theoretical value with the actual value,it is found that the output polarization error is 8.25° approximately,indicating that the matrix model is reliable,and finally put forward some suggestions for optimization.The biggest advantage of the system is high-speed control,you can quickly achieve the output of the polarization state.In this paper,a polarized-mode dispersion measurement system based on Poincare sphere measurement method is designed.This system is fully automated during the measurement process,effectively avoiding the interference caused by man-made operation.This system uses the prepared Labview program to control the laser,realize the function of rapid storage of data and draw image.In this paper,the operation process and measurement program of polarization mode dispersion are introduced in detail.The PMD measured in the experiment is 0.0327 ps/(?),within the PMD reference value(<0.06 ps/(?))of the measured fiber.Finally,some suggestions are put forward to optimize the experimental results.
