It remains a challenging problem to design and implement effective visualization systems with a well-studied fashion in the data era. This thesis proposes a nested incremental model(NIM)for visualization developers from the perspective of software engineering. The key idea and flowchart of our nested incremental model is demonstrated with a visualization prototype for visual explo-ration of mobile base station data. The experiments verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed NIM.On the other hand, for unprofessional users who want to design a visualization without coding, the bar for interactive authoring is high. For that,we propose an interactive visual design tool based on the nested incremental model, called VisComposer. Our implemented environment provides an interactive graphical interface and pre-defined visual components to allow users to author a rich set of visual forms. We demonstrate the performance of VisComposer with a variety of visualization examples. |
