There are some problems in the current instrument management system of the space institute, such as low-efficiency, high error rate and lacking of real-time information of the instruments. To solve these problems and to improve the decision-making level during the management of instruments, a method based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is proposed in this paper. The main research works are as follows:(1)To meet the demands of the instrument management, the ultra high frequency RFID system is selected, the coding method of RFID tags is developed, and the topology of the system and business processes are designed.(2)In order to integrate the heterogeneous data which generate in the management processes, an ontology-based instrument management information model is constructed. In addition, a Rule-Based Reasoning (RBR) decision making method is proposed with the designed rules to recommend the most suitable instrument. Simultaneously, a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) decision making method of the instrument repair is proposed to diagnose the fault and to give the repair suggestion efficiently by case matching.(3)A method based on Bayes' theorem and neural network is studied to determine the testing interval corresponding to the type of the instruments and the using years.(4) The instrument management and decision-making system based on RFID is developed and the database of the system is designed. Thus, system login, privilege management, instrument management, etc are achieved. The system has been proved to meet the function requirements of instrument management and decision making. With the implementation of RFID, the system could improve the efficiency and the decision-making level during instrument management. Moreover, the system has great scalability.
