With the development of the information age,the portable electronic devices have been widely used,resulting in more and higher requirements of power management.Today,power management needs to possess higher efficiency,higher integration and lower cost,and so on.Therefore,the research and design of the multi-channel power management integrated chip becomes very important.Based on the industry-university-research project titled as "Research and design of power management integrated chips for portable electronic devices" that is performed by Fuzhou University and Fuzhou Fuda Hisi Microelectronics Co.,Ltd,,one integrated chip FD8081 used for multi-channel power management is researched and designed in this paper.In general,the FD8081 is composed of two step-down DC-DC converters,two LDO linear regulators,one I2C serial-BUS and one power control timing module.This thesis is organized as follows:Firstly,it introduces the situation and development trends of power management integrated chips at home and abroad.Then the architecture of chip is defined on terms of the application,including.features,pinout definition,power control timing and signal distribution considerations.In addition,the main system modules including LDO linear regulator and step-down DC-DC converter based on peak current mode are researched and designed,the fundamental is introduced,the stability of the systerm is analyzed,the key circuits are designed and simulated.At last,the simulation for whole chip is given and the full chip layout is finished.Some important measures are used to design the key circuits:a quasi-Miller compensation with fast-transient-response circuit is proposed to realize the quick response and the steady of LDO,a low-voltage and high-accuracy reference voltage source circuit is proposed to reduce the loop gain that is significant to promote the output accuracy and to lower the power supply voltage,a adaptive slope compensation is adopted to guarantee the stability of the current loop.By analyzing the weakness of existing peak current-sensing technique,a novel current sensor based on one dynamically biased shunt feedback techniqued is proposed to improve the speed and accuracy of the current sensing.The design and simulation of chip FD8081 are completed using CSMC 0.35 ?m CMOS mixed technology.Spectre software is applied for forward simulation and Virtuoso is for the backend layout design.Simulation results showed the multi-channel power management integrated chip proposed in this paper is excellent enough to meet the requirements of multiple power supply system.
