In recent years, with the rapid development of portable electronic products, powermanagement chip, as an important part of mobile electronic devices, has a great and direc tinfluence on the stability and reliability of electronic devices. Therefore, the small-sizechip, with low power consumption and high performance, is increasingly demanded.Due to the larger scale of modern integrated circuits and more complicated circuitstructure, the power management chip with single modulation cannot meet the needs anymore. Integrating respective advantages of PWM and PFM, the thesis designs acurrent-mode power management chip with PWM/PFM mixed control. It can significantlyimprove the conversion efficiency of power management system. The thesis describes its technological characteristics, overall structure, and circuitperformance in detail, and completes the system design. Moreover, it finally accomplishesthe global simulation and the whole system layout. The power management chip containsan internal power-supply module, a detection and protection module, and a logical contro lmodule. The Internal power-supply system includes LDO, BG and Bias; the detection andprotection module includes CD, OTP and UVLO; the logical control module includes aPWM and PFM circuit; apart from this, the chip also inc ludes OSC, EA, and Slope.Adopting HHNEC0.13μm CMOS technology, the power management chip area isabout0.661mm×0.558mm. According to the simulation and verification, the system cangenerate standard5V output voltage and the voltage ripple is lower than±8mV in inputvoltage range of1.8V to3.6V. The dynamic simulation shows that the system has a goodline regulation and load regulation. Under the PFM/PWM mixed control, the systemconversion efficiency is higher than75%at light loads and than85%at heavy loads. The thesis has a certain technical reference for intellectualized and high-integratedpower management chip with high efficiency and lower power consumption.
