With the increasing demand of human for marine resources and the continuous improvement of maritime safety in the Defense position, underwater acoustic communication technology has developed rapidly. The underwater acoustic sensor network technology, combined underwater acoustic communication technology with sensor network technology,is playing an increasingly important role in military and civilian fields. Therefore, underwater acoustic sensor network communication protocol has become a hot research field. However, the special nature of the underwater environment leads to the failure in direct application of the existing land-based protocol in the underwater acoustic sensor networks. What's more, the limited available bandwidth, large signal attenuation, low transmission rate, severe multipath interference and other features of underwater acoustic channel have increased the difficulty in underwater acoustic sensor network protocol design.Since the nodes of underwater acoustic sensor network is battery powered, the energy of battery is limited and can not be replaced. So energy saving is the most important consideration in the design of the underwater acoustic sensor network protocol. This dissertation takes the energy-efficient routing protocol in underwater acoustic sensor network as the research object.First of all,we add the underwater acoustic communication simulation platform into the network simulation software NS2,and then analyses the representative location-based information protocol called VBF,through simulation results, the performance indexes of VBF are obtained, and its excellent energy-saving features are verified. In addition, this dissertation points out that the VBF protocol does not consider the energy balance between network nodes in the process of selecting the next hop forwarding nodes. To solve this problem, this dissertation puts forward the improved protocol E-VBF,By using the node's residual energy constantly adjusts the forwarding node priority, avoid individual node early energy depletion, reasonably balance the energy consumption of each node of the network. The simulation verifies that, compared with VBF protocol, the E-VBF protocol can well improve the node energy utilization rate, prolong the network lifetime. The application of network coding technology in underwater acoustic sensor networks can achieve more energy efficient and reliable routing protocols. In this dissertation, based on the full study of the existing routing protocol for underwater acoustic sensor network, which is upon network coding,We combine ARQ technology with it and propose a new energy saving routing protocol called NCF.This dissertation introduces in detail the basic principle and design process of NCF protocol, and then analyzes the influence of each parameter on network energy consumption through simulation. At last,we conducted a stimulated comparison of NCF protocol,VBF protocol and E-VBF protocol.According to the results,it can be known that the NCF protocol can achieve higher energy efficiency and prolong the lifetime of the network compared with the traditional underwater acoustic sensor routing protocol represented by VBF.
