Synchronous gear ring is an important part of the automobile,motor and other products,the gear ring product appearance detection is different due to the different product specifications and test environment.In the large-scale industrial production,the detection demand for the synchronous gear ring is more extensive,and the detection requirement is more complex.So the gear ring detection system must have the characteristics of high detection speed,high image processing efficiency and good robustness for the requirements of modern industry and the working conditions.In response to these requirements,based on MVTec HALCON machine vision platform,and combined with high-level programming tool-Delphi,a machine vision inspection system for the appearance detection of the synchronous gear ring was carried out in this paper.The whole detection system contains light distribution design,collection platform,photoelectric sensor,image acquisition and processing,automatic inspection and sorting mechanism,etc.It has a very important theoretical and practical value to expand the application of the synchronous gear ring detection process by using automation and modularization.In this paper,the hardware test platform was set up,which was focused on the synchronous gear ring detection requirement.Combined with MVTec HALCON machine vision operator and high-levelprogramming tool-Delphi,complete detection software hasbeen developed.The main contents include:(1)First,the workingconditions of the synchronous gear ring manufacturing and detection requirement was investigated.The function frame of the whole detection system was constructed according to analyzing the appearance,size and structure of synchronous gear ring.The hardware configuration,light distribution design and acquisition platform was completed through comparing different types of light distribution and camera lens.(2)Secondly,HALCON imageprocessing operatorwas used as the key technology for the image processing.The effects of different processing operator on the image processing results of the gear ring was studied,by which a best image processing step method was obtained,and the algorithm design for detecting the outer radius(referred to the outer diameter of the tip circle radius),the inner radius(referred to the inner diameter of the tooth claw radius),mould number,tooth loss and tooth number was carried out.(3)According to the HALCON image processing interfaces,with using a high-level programming platform-Delphi,the program code structure of HALCON image processing algorithm operators used in the integrated development environment of Delphi was analyzed,and a mixed programming between HALCON image processing algorithms and Delphi assembly language was achieved.(4)Lastly,the software for the gear ring machine vision detectionsystem wasdevelopedusing Delphi programming tool,by which the human-machine interaction and the results judgmentin the detection system were realized.The results of practical operating process indicated that the whole system plays an important role on the automatic detection and quality control during the manufacturing process of the synchronous gear ring,and also the producing efficiency is improved.
