In recent years,market demand and development space of remote monitoring system is growing,video capture module is the basis for video processing and transmission,and the video capture technology plays an important role in the remote monitoring system.At present,video capture module using personal computer as the collection terminal has been unable to meet the requirements of modern intelligence surveillance on miniaturization and specificity.In recent years,the development of embedded technology can solve this problem,it has low cost,small size,high performance and high degree of specificity.So,it was widely applied in various fields.The combination of video capture technology and embedded technology is the current trends in the field of remote monitoring.Therefore,the study of this subject has a high value of application and practical significance.The paper puts forward a design for video capturing module based on ARM embedded platform,which was mainly used to study how to achieve the video capture function through the camera with USB interface on ARM embedded platform from the aspects of both hardware and software.Firstly,the paper analyzes the system requirements,and then design the overall architecture of the system.The hardware platform uses the popular embedded board Cortex-A8,and the software platform uses the free and open source Android operating system based on embedded Linux kernel.The application software would complete the real-time acquisition and display function of USB video images on this basis;then set up the hardware and software platform of system,and accomplish the transplantation of Android kernel and file system.Finally,the subject uses C / C ++ language to design the driver for USB camera based on the Android operating system in the V4L2 framework and completes the writing applications in application layer by using Java language.In terms of the preparation of camera driver,the subject focus on how to implement the compatibility of ZC301 camera and UVC camera so that the system could supports the common formats,such as JPEG,YUV and RGB.Based on the tests of experimental results,it shows that the design of this subject has a strong system versatility and adaptability,and the image is stable and clear,meeting the needs of remote monitoring system’s development and design.
