Video monitoring is an essential part of today’s safeguard social stability technology, its development history has been lasting for thirty years. In the30years of development, mainly based on the simulation information processing technology of traditional video monitoring system gradually exposed many shortcomings, such as the resolution is not enough, difficult to achieve network, difficult to centralized management and so on. As in recent years, electronic integration technology and the rapid development of computer network, the traditional video surveillance industry by the attention of more and more high, and gradually replaced by the digital video monitoring.Against the above background, this paper designs and realizes an embedded network camera, and the main work is divided into two parts of hardware and software.In the hardware part, according to the demand analysis of the network camera, for each module system design, selection and connection, construct the hardware platform;In software part, first through to the transplantation of the embedded Linux operating system to build software development environment, then emphatically discussed based on standard V4L2video driver design and writing, and finally briefly designed a streaming media server and a Web server to test of the whole system, and make a test evaluation.This project adopts the freescale’s LMX27processor as core chip in this paper, and designs and realizes an embedded audio and video data acquisition and transmission system, namely the hardware platform of network cameras.The design drastically played i.MX27chip in the field of multimedia data processing advantages, greatly reduce the multimedia data processing, and alleviate the pressure of multimedia network data transmission.In order to better realize the audio and video data acquisition and transmission, this project adopts the embedded Linux operation system as software development platform of network cameras.Then emphatically discussed based on the general V4L2(Video for Linux2) standard interface of Video acquisition module design and implementation of the driver.V4L2standard not only improve the efficiency of video acquisition program development, but also to other developers on the system upgrade and maintenance provides great convenience. Finally, the project design briefly the streaming media server and a Web server, to provide users with Web browsing, testing system at the same time, and test evaluation is given.This paper designed and implemented based on ARM system network camera system, the test proves the feasibility of the system, and all the indexes can meet the demand of users.
