As China’s information technology development in the aerospace industry, electronic system itself has become more and more complex, the large demand for electronic system test equipment is increasing. PXI (PCI extensions for Instrumentation) interface, as one of the widely used bus in system testing, has a large variety of products. Universal PXI card is restricted to build test system directly due to security risk, confidentiality breach and other factors. Normally the combination of different cards and instruments are used in testing industry. As a result, the testing system volume is huge and the price is unaffordable. On the other hand, reliability and scalability of the system are also greatly reduced. Therefore, an independent research and development of multi-function PXI card can be a good solution to the security, reliability and volume cost.This thesis, case studies of domestic aviation and aerospace and other defense industry test system setup are represented, and the problems and contradictions are analyzed in the beginning. The author proposed an independent research and development idea, which is based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and DSP (Digital Signal Processor), being the core universal multi-function PXI card design. This idea could be used in model development process in the designing and the testing phases of the work. It not only enhances the rate of equipment utilization but also reduces the cost of R&D. Most importantly, users can work according to the needs of their own to meet the confidentiality requirements.Through the introduction of the whole design and the development process, as well as the verification of several practical application cases, the actual function of general multi-function PXI board based on FPGA and DSP has achieved the design expectation, solving the contradiction brought up at first. It can be widely used in aviation, aerospace and other high reliability, high customization aera.
