In recent years, with the accelerated process of industrialization, mechanization of the industry continues to improve, the application of industrial products in the production of life has gradually spread, people has become increasingly prominent on the quality detection.Single detection technique, low detection accuracy, lack of mature detection techniques,which have seriously affected the modernization of the production schedule. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a reliable and efficient detection system.This paper put forward and designed a kind of on-line surface defect detection system,using FPGA technology as the core, to determine whether there are defects through the collection and analysis of detected surface image data.The system uses machine vision, digital image processing, on-line detection technology, the core processing chip Cyclone IV EP4CE115F29C7 of ALTERA company.The system includes image acquisition,image format conversion,image storage, image processing and image display unit.The main implementation process are: the acquisition of the original image information by the CMOS image sensor,and then after the image data format conversion to SDRAM cache memory, while the use of relevant logical operations and edge detection algorithm on the edge processing,final results via VGA interface output to VGA display. After image processing algorithms such as edge detection, can be clearly observed surface features of products, to determine whether the products is qualified.The system uses a top-down design ideas, application Verilog hardware description language, running in Quartus II10.0 compiler environment,uses Model Sim simulation method,the test program simulation results show that the system design logical, each module is designed correctly, to achieve the online real-time defect detection, can effectively eliminate unqualified products, to verify the feasibility of the program.
