Design And Implementation Of RSS Personalized Information Service System In The Capital Library

As an important place for people to acquire knowledge, Libraries use high technologies to meet special information needs of readers. RSS technology is an important method to meet the personalized needs of readers and technologically support the improvement of information services.The article elaborates the current situation of RSS technology at home and aborad. Mainly illustrates the problems of the RSS personalized data services in the Capital Library:Poor accuracy in users' individualized information demand confirm, delay suggestions and poor user-friendly system interface and so forth.Based on the current data system of the Capital Library, the article tries to design new functional modules by using RSS technology to improve efficiency and quality of personalized library information services. The system contains three functional parts: information storage and classification,personalized information analysis and mining, and offering individualized information to users by RSS technology.On one hand, the article uses data mining technology to collect and analize users' data collection behaviors, including booking-lending records, webpage browsing records and the selected topics by users themselves. Based on the analysis, the article builds users information interests model to accurately confirm the interests and preferences of users in information obtaining behaviors.On the other hand, the article added several functional modules to the tradistional system of the Capital Library: 1.Information booking modules; 2.Personalized information confirm modules; 3. RSSon-line browsers; 4. Using RSS technology to push the information to the users. Besides, the system's major technical problems and solutions are discussed, designed and realized. The ASP.NET technology is used to design the online RSS browser and achieves the RSS information services push.The testing of the RSS information system has been completed in the end. It is showed that classified information can be pushed to users based on their interests successfully in the system. It is a user friendly system and improves the whole efficiency and quality of persinolized information push services in the Capital Library.
