In recent years, optical communication and optical computing technology are developing rapidly. As a new method to transmit information, optical communication technology is becoming more and more important. Optical devices with characters of low power consumption, high speed modulation, small size and high integration are the developing trend of optical communication technology. The optical switch and optical buffer are the key devices in all-optical communication technology. “Slow light” with extremely low group velocity of propagation is one of the most promising technologies to realize the fabrication of optical switches and buffers. And EIT-like effect can realize “slow light” in theory.This paper firstly analyzes the EIT effect in atomic system in theory, and applies its principles to different systems. This paper mainly introduces two different double cavities coupled with waveguide systems. The coupled mode theory and simulation method are used to analyze the systems, and typical EIT-like curves are observed in the transmission spectrums. Next, experiments are designed to explore the fabrication technology of the two systems.For the fabrication of two-dimensional photonic crystal slabs EIT system, we use electron beam exposure, inductively coupled plasma etching and wet etching to complete the fabrication process in the thin slab of GaInP. The influences on the designed parameters caused by the experiments are recorded.For the fabrication of metal resonant cavities coupled with waveguide EIT system, we grow a layer of gold film on the silica substrate with the use of electron beam evaporation technique. Then we use focused ion beam to etch the gold film without mask. Although the minimum line width can't be shorter than 80 nm in our present research, the study on the experiment of metal etching process has a certain guiding significance for the fabrication of the metal PIT system in the future.
