It's a big data era nowadays, to meet the requirements of hard disk drive(HDD) with big capacity, high speed, high quality and high reliability, it puts forward the more and more strict requirements on the performance of the magnetic head. However, when HDD works, the flying height between the head and media disk is only several nanometers, if there is contamination material on the surface of head, it will impact HDD performance seriously or damage the head and disk. In order to guarantee high performance and reliability, the magnetic head surface cleanliness improvement is now an important topic in HGA manufacturing industry.Polish cleaning technology is developed to remove magnetic head surface contamination. This dissertation takes polish cleaning process as the research object, takes process operation and cleaning efficiency improvement as the starting points to carry out.Researched macroµcosmic morphology for magnetic head and polish finger, analyzed the contaminaton's composition, source and types. Analyzed the head abrasion mechanism and HGA cleaning friction mechanism with tribology theory.From the point of view of ergonomics and industrial engineering theory, studied polish cleaning process and operator's detailed operation and motion, found out shortcomings, designed a new fixture to reduce work loading and improve cleaning efficiency and yield. Then verified new fixture effect through experiment in operability, low power microscope yield, high power microscope yield, PSA/RSA, LG, and the effect is good.Studied cloth structure, basing on HGA cleaning friction mechanism, analyzed the reason why there's still residual contamination inside cloth and on groove-surface of head with tribology knowledge and fluid mechanics theory. Designed a polish finger with holes, which can make water jet from holes to solve residual contamination problem. Finally, verified new finger effect through experiment in low power microscope yield, high power microscope yield, PSA/RSA, LG, and the effect is good.
