With the rapid development of logistics technology, Automated Guided Vehicles are widely used in the manufacturing system. As an important part in the manufacturing system, the schema of AGV's scheduling affects the efficiency of the manufacturing system. How to schedule the AGV with high efficiency and respond to the disturbances timely is one of the focus in the AGV scheduling field.The technology of agent is employed in the AGV scheduling system, task scheduling and reactive mechanism against disturbances in the AGV scheduling system are studied.Firstly, the definitions, structures, characteristics and communication theory of agent are analyzed, the framwork and negotiation mechanism of multi-agent system are discussed. The outstanding features of multi-agent system and its application in the AGV scheduling are described.Secondly, the scheduling system between AGVs and machines based on agent is proposed in this paper. The aim of the system is to minimize the maximum makespan of AGV. To handle the repeated negotiations and the problem of concurrent-tendering operation, the improved contract net protocol based on the beat is proposed.Thirdly, the information platform of AGV intelligent scheduling simulation based on agent is built, taking JADE as agent development environment, MySQL as the database. The storage agent,machine agent and AGV agent are defined. The communication content between agents are designed.The experiment of AGV intelligent scheduling on the information platform is carried out. The results show that AGV scheduling system based on agent is effective and reacts to disturbances timely.Finally, the communication architecture between information platform and physical platform of AGV intelligent scheduling is designed.The mapping relation between information platform and physical platform is established. In the information platform, agents cooperate with each other to obtain the scheduling result, and the result is sent to the physical platform. Physical platform conducts the real scheduling and sends the real-time information to the information platform. The fusion of information platform and physical platform is achieved. By experiment on the physical platform, the results indicate that AGV scheduling system based on agent can complete the AGV scheduling.
