In recent years, along with the improvement of banking self-service ability, the total amount of ATM(Automatic Teller Machine) in the global market increased sharply. On the one hand, in order to enhance their core competitiveness of the market, banks purchase a large number of ATM year by year; On the other hand, banks face a lot of problems regarding how to monitor and manage these ATM. ATM network become larger and larger, however, currently, most of monitoring systems can only monitor small ATM network. Facing with these large-scale ATM network, they will become helpless. And due to the cost, traditional video surveillance system is also hard to applied on large-scale ATM network. In addition, along with development of science and technology, the means of ATM crime become more and more sophisticated. So now banks are most focus on how to ensure the security of these ATM.In order to solve these problems, banks need a real-time monitoring system urgently. They system can not only monitor ATM but also monitor the security of ATM, help them to prevent ATM crime effectively. Based on above background, the thesis presents a design of a high-performance and real-time ATM monitoring system. To achieve the purpose of real-time monitoring, system actively detect and push the ATM event to server for handling. The ATM event is considered as underlying data source of the whole system. After server get the events, system will update ATM status and generate ATM incident according to the predefined mapping between event and status, event and incident. To ensure the ATM incident can be solved in time, the process of solving incident is designed combining with the best process of incident management and service level management in ITIL(Information Technology Infrastructure Library). In addition, the thesis also introduce the design regarding how to monitor ATM security in real-time and consider ATM software security monitoring and ATM hardware security monitoring. For software, the system monitor the ATM file system, will generate the security event immediately once detect any file destruction. For hardware, the system take photos using build-in camera to take photos and combined with some image comparing technology to detect the hardware destruction. System compare the ATM hardware original image and current image, recognize the attack behavior. Same as software monitoring, the system will security event immediately for any abnormal behavior. The whole system design are discussed around how to monitor large scale ATM network and ATM security in real-time, which are the most concerned problems for banks.Lucky, part of the system design in this thesis have already implemented and used by several banks. The banks use the system for daily ATM monitoring and operation, and the facts proved that the system is indeed reduce the ATM operation costs. Banks give a good evaluation for the system, to a certain extent, the good evaluation also confirms the feasibility and value of the entire system design.
