Video images are the static image sequences that continuous gradient, the most intuitive and authentic reflection of the objective world from people. In modern times, the video images have already been widely used in aerospace industry, medical industry, military, biological, national security and other fields. As the video images are widely used in various fields, the requirements of video images acquisition and processing technology are also increasing, many chips for video images acquisition and processing are gradually introduced, so that the processing capabilities of video images become stronger, tend to use more flexible and simplified. Video image processing technology has been rapidly developed, and the directions gradually toward to diversity, high performance, high real-time and high reliability. In this paper, based on Zynq-7000 series chips in Xilinx company as the core to build a video image acquisition and processing platform. Zynq-7000 series chips integrate in two parts of dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor and programmable logic. In the programmable logic portion achieve to design a video image acquisition unit, in the microprocessor part build a embedded operating system for processing video image, the chip inside use AXI bus to achieve data exchange of two portions both in microprocessors and programmable logic. This research platform is a high performance video image acquisition and processing system that integrates video image acquisition, processing and transmission, with general adaptability and high flexibility, solve the problems of video image's high capacity, high resolution and complex, it can verify various video image algorithm works, has a high practical significance.
