With the implementation of some major projects, such as Peaceful City and Strengthen Police By Technology, another big development opportunity pops in security surveillance industry. Manufactories already created different kinds of video surveillance products. Although various cameras have spread throughout the high streets and back lanes, but how to extract and process useful information from the big video data is still a great challenge. Moving target detection technology is the key of intelligent video surveillance system, since it isn't possible to be tracked and analyzed for the target which isn't detected correctly in the video. How to detect the moving target accurately and efficiently in such kind of complex video scene is important but also difficult in intelligent video surveillance system.With the launch of TI DaVinci technology, the intelligent video front-end based on embedded system is getting more practical and it also effectively promotes the development of intelligent video surveillance system. TMS320DM6467T is the most advanced multimedia processor in DaVinci technology, which has a dual-core architecture including the ARM926 core and C64x+DSP core. The ARM core is used for system control interface while the DSP core is for image process unit.The purpose of this dissertation is to achieve a product which has practical application in intelligent video surveillance. It discusses the design and implementation of an intelligent video surveillance platform. The contents of this dissertation include the design of the hardware platform, system software design and the implementation of the moving target detection algorithm. The main task in the paper includes the following:1) Research on embedded system design technology, DaVinci platform technology and multimedia develop technology based on DMAI Gstreamer; 2) Analysis the market demand of video surveillance products, define functions of this platform, design the hardware platform and architecture of system software; 3) Implement peripheral circuits design of the hardware platform based on DM6467T, including storage system unit, video processing system unit, network system unit, CPLD system unit and power system unit; 4) Study Gstreamer multimedia framework and develop a streaming media server, including the design of Gstreamer plugins on DaVinci platform and multimedia processing pipelines; 5) Study the mechanism of DaVinci Codec Engine, realize the moving target detection algorithm based on VLIB and GMM, package it to a Gstreamer plugin to achieve moving target detection function; 6) Research and hack the embedded Web server MiniWeb, develop web control interface to provide services of remote access to streaming media server and file management by using SQLite database and CGI technology.The dissertation realizes a high performance intelligent video surveillance platform. It supports two-way D1 video input, including one-way analog camera or one-way webcam. It can complete video compression, storage and transmission with multi-format and different resolution. The algorithms conforming to the xDM standard can be easily added in and now the system has accomplished real-time moving target detection function. The system also supports web control, video file access and management through the CGI service.
