With the rapidly development of the Ethernet technology, the scale of LAN become more and more big. Modern LAN has evolved into a complex system which contains a large amount of equipments, diversification of product type and distribution system. To ensure the operation of network is stable, safe and efficient, there must be an efficient and convenient method to manage the large and complex modern LAN. However, due to the expansion of network scale, traditional command line with simple monitoring tool of network management technology can't meet such demand any more. In order to solve this dilemma, many effective solutions have been taken up. Among them, the most efficient and easiest way of network management is based on Web technology. In the context of rapid expansion of LAN, this paper mainly studies the application of Java Web technology in LAN equipments performance monitoring. Based on these research work, it puts forward the detailed design of a performance monitoring system for LAN equipments, and complete the implementation of the system.Firstly, the user requirements of the system are analyzed in detail, and abstract out of the main functions which system should include: monitoring management function, the real-time performance of data management, data collection and storage functions and graphs showing function. Monitoring management functions provide a unified monitoring operations for LAN equipments; the real-time performance data management functions for the specific LAN equipments performance monitoring of user configuration items for data statistics, and display the monitoring data in real time; data collection and storage function is about to performance data collection and database storage operation for LAN equipments;chart display function is used to provide a simple and intuitive way of data presentation for network manager. Secondly, this paper introduces the design and implementation of the system in detail and complete the database design of the system. This system takes three layer architecture model: show layer is based on event driven model of JSF framework technology; in the business domain layer, the dependencies between Bean use the Spring container management; data access layer using Hibernate ORM framework technology to complete the Java entity object instance and the mapping relationship between relational database table structure. Data collecting of system is based on SNMP network management protocol and the implementation of this uses the i MF framework which is packaged by SNMP. Finally, this article has carried on the detailed process of system testing, from three aspects including test environment, functional testing and performance testing, then compares the test results and data statistics and analysis in detail, the system passed through the final test, and achieved the desired functionality and performance requirements.This system provides a comprehensive automation, intelligent management way in the LAN equipments performance monitoring and performance data analysis and management for the enterprise. At the same time, it also improved utilization of network resources, reduce the probability of malfunctions of LAN. At present, the project system presented by this paper has released several public version, and have many business customers. Each version is running steadily, and obtained the customers' high praise in terms of quality.
